The Employer has many sources of information on issues affecting employees and the workplace, including the Employee Relations Committees. The persistent and persuasive voice of the Sub 002 ERC, added to the other voices that the Employer hears, can and does lead to positive changes in policy.

  • ESRA: Until recently, employees away from work for an extended time as a result of illness or injury were often not informed of their right to contact the Employee Support and Recovery Assistance program (ESRA). Pressure put on the Employer by ERC has contributed to a new policy allowing ERSA to contact employees who have been away from work more than 10 days to give them the choice to use ESRA.

  • Learning/Wellness Accounts: Due in part to lobbying by the ERC, the Employer has recently extended learning and wellness accounts to all departments and has moved to standardize them.

  • Eldercare and Dependant Care: Local 002 members working in cooperation with the Employer’s representatives on the Sub 002 ERC have created an Eldercare/Dependant Care web page full of links to useful resources and information to assist members who are trying to manage their work-related duties at the same time as attending to the needs of aging parents or dependant children. This web page will be revamped and put on the new Local 002 website.
