The 2010 Bursary
- The Bursary would cover bonafide learning and personal development costs up to a maximum of $500.
- Its scope is for learning and activities rather than for costs of materials, services, goods or equipment. For example, eligible Bursary items include Personal Interest Courses, but not Computer equipment. The list shown below provides a complete list.
Eligibility Criteria
- An applicant must be member in good standing of Local 002.
- An applicant must have completed an activity/course for the purpose of personal development, career development, or wellness.
- An eligible member may apply every year, but first priority will be given to applicants who have not received a previous bursary.
Application/Selection Process
- This Bursary is to be applied to activities/courses completed during the current calendar year. Download the 2010 Bursary Application Form (pdf)
- Bursary applications will be accepted up to January 28, 2011.
- The items that you are requesting the bursary for must be purchased between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2010. No exceptions are allowed.
- Only one Bursary application per member per calendar year will be accepted, but the application may contain multiple activity/course costs to the maximum $500.
- Original receipts and a copy of the activity/course agenda/outline/brochure/certificate must be submitted with the Bursary application. If the total amount exceeds $500, you may retain your original receipt(s) should you wish to apply for those excess costs from other Bursaries, in which case, photocopies will then be acceptable.
- The number of Bursaries awarded depends upon the number of applications received, their total value, and the amount budgeted by Local 002. Only properly completed applications will be considered to receive a Bursary.
- If the total value of Bursary applications exceeds the amount budgeted by Local 002, the committee will randomly select recipients until the available funds have been depleted. In addition, item 8 below will be used as part of the selection process.
- Priority will be given to applications from Local 002 members who have not previously received this Bursary. If, after all new applicants have received a Bursary, funds remain available for distribution, repeat applicants will be considered based upon the time elapsed since they last received a Bursary.
- If Bursaries are awarded, Social Insurance Numbers will be required to issue T4A slips.
- The decision of the Learning and Personal Development Committee is final.
